There are a number of different shops in and around the resort where you can buy everyday necessities or get tax free goods such as electrical goods, tobacco, alcohol, cameras and perfume. Because you don’t pay tax on these goods they are considerably cheaper than they would be if you bought them at home. There are a couple of general shops selling some of the products that you can get back in the UK. There are also some shops in Golf del Sur’s commercial centre but if you are looking for designer clothes and boutiques then a trip to los Cristianos or Playa de las Americas would be best.
Both of Golf del Sur’s neighbouring resorts have very good shopping facilities including supermarkets. You will find a range of up market shops and designer outlets, particularly in Playa de las Americas’ large commercial centre. Here you will find plenty of shops selling clothes, shoes and bags and if you need to take a break from shopping there are some cafes where you can grab some lunch or just a coffee before you get back to the shops. If you feel like haggling and bagging a few bargains to take back home with you then the weekly market at Playa de las Americas should provide what you are looking for. The market is best for souvenirs, cheap pottery and cheap watches which are great for taking home as small gifts. It is well worth visiting the market, if only for the experience.
