With its cosmopolitan mix of both resident and tourist accommodation and an unusual ‘french flavour’ to it with its french bakeries selling real fresh french bread and croissants and crepes in the ice cream parlour, Callao Salvaje is an interesting small resort on the doorstep between the well known very lively Las Americas Resort and the quieter Los Gigantes.
It takes only 40 minutes to transfer to Callao Salvaje from the Reina Sofia Airport and it is a popular destination for both couples and families especially as a base to explore other resorts without travelling too far. The reasonably priced car hire is definitely an option but the bus services are really regular, making it easy to get around. There are some interesting restaurants and the fact that they are not at all expensive make it even more of an appealing resort with a community feel and something a bit different.
Callao Salvaje has its own small beach area but if you did want to some spend time on a larger beach, Fanabe beach is only 10 minutes away with all the usual beach facilities and a long promenade – and so you have the best of both worlds. Also Le Privilege Beach Club is worth a visit to chill out on their very stylish sun beds soaking up the sun. There is a reasonable fee to use their facilities and the Club is located on the West of the town. The Pearly Grey Ocean Club Resort Hotel also has some great facilities including its own Bowling Green and its location is near to the sea front.
Anyone wanting to play golf under a beautiful blue sky knows that Tenerife has some great golf courses and you will find several to choose from in the area including Costa Adeje golf course which is only about 5mins drive from Callao Salvaje.
