There is some good news for tourists jetting off to Tenerife on their Easter holidays this year with the news that the beautiful Los Guios beach at Los Gigantes is due to re-open after building work in the area.
Work started on securing the stunning cliffs after two sunbathers were killed after debris from the cliffs fell on the beach. The beach has been closed ever since. But now the council has confirmed the beach will to re – open in time for holiday makers to enjoy one of the finest views in Tenerife.
Work to strengthen the embankment has been taking place since January and is due to be completed before the big Easter getaway. Contractors Dragados SA are currently completing the finishing touches as well as attaching the meshing to the cliffs to prevent any slides. The next phase is to strengthen the embankment and apply a spray concrete layer to contain any falling debris.
The beach will then be safe enough for holidaymakers to flock back to one of the most famous beaches on the island with the assurance that the cliffs and the embankment are now safer.
Currently holidaymakers in the Los Gigantes area have been confined to their hotel swimming pools or have been venturing to Puerto Santiago or the blue flag cove at Playa de la Arena.
Good news for all of you who love a beach holiday and are planning on jet – setting at Easter with Tenerife Holidays.
